Return Policy – Beaufood

This Return Policy applies to all purchases made through kitchenustore.com (the “Site”), operated by beau tony Japanese food LLC, located at 2717 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90006. For return requests or questions, please contact us at service@kitchenustore.com.

1. General Policy

At Beaufood, we want you to be completely satisfied with your Japanese restaurant and kitchen supplies. However, due to the nature of certain products (hygiene-related items, knives, and fragile ceramics), our return policy includes specific conditions. We accept returns only under the circumstances described below. All transactions are processed in Euros (EUR).

2. 14-Day Right of Withdrawal for EU Customers

If you are a consumer located in the European Union, you have a statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days of receiving your order, without giving any reason, in accordance with EU Directive 2011/83/EU. However, this right does NOT apply to:

  • Sealed goods that are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons once unsealed (e.g., chopsticks in sealed packaging, food-contact items with broken seals).

  • Goods that are clearly personalized or made to your specifications (e.g., custom-engraved knives or branded restaurantware).

  • Goods that are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly (not applicable to kitchen supplies generally).

For all other products (cookware, tableware, utensils, knives in original unopened packaging), the right of withdrawal applies provided the product is returned in its original condition, unused, and in original packaging.

3. Eligibility Conditions for Returns

To be eligible for a return, the following must all be true:

  • The product was purchased directly from kitchenustore.com.

  • The product is unused, unwashed, and in its original condition with all tags, boxes, and protective wrapping intact.

  • The return is initiated within 14 days of the delivery date (for EU customers) or within 14 days (for non-EU customers if we accept the return at our discretion).

  • The product is not on the list of non-returnable items (see Section 4).

  • You provide your order number and a clear reason for return.

4. Non-Returnable Items

The following products cannot be returned under any circumstances except for confirmed defects:

  • Knives that have been removed from their original protective packaging or show signs of use (including sharpening or washing). For hygiene and safety reasons, we cannot resell used knives.

  • Chopsticks, serving spoons, or any utensils that come in direct contact with food, if the sealed packaging has been opened.

  • Ceramic or porcelain items with chips or cracks caused by customer handling after delivery (defects present upon arrival are covered under Section 5).

  • Products marked as “Final Sale,” “Clearance,” or “Outlet” at the time of purchase.

  • Gift cards or digital products (if any).

  • Free samples or promotional items.

5. Defective or Damaged Products

If you receive a product that is defective (e.g., ceramic bowl with crack, knife with loose handle, uneven glaze, missing part) or damaged in transit, we will replace it or issue a full refund, including original shipping costs. Steps to follow:

  • Contact service@kitchenustore.com within 7 days of delivery.

  • Provide your order number, photos showing the defect or damage clearly, and a brief description.

  • Do not use or attempt to repair the product.

  • We will review your claim within 3 business days. If approved, we will send a replacement at no cost or refund the full amount (including original shipping fees). For defective knives, we may ask you to return the item using a prepaid label due to safety considerations.

For fragile items (donabe pots, porcelain bowls, ceramic plates) that arrive with cracks or breakage, we will require photos of the box and the damaged item. We may also request a short video for insurance purposes.

6. Incorrect Items Shipped

If we ship you the wrong product (different from what you ordered), please contact us within 7 days of delivery. We will arrange for the correct item to be sent at no additional cost. Depending on the situation, we may ask you to return the incorrect item using a prepaid shipping label. If we do not request return, you may keep or dispose of the incorrect item.

7. Change of Mind Returns for Eligible Items

If you simply changed your mind and the product remains unused, unwashed, and in original packaging, you may return it within 14 days of delivery (EU customers) or at our discretion (non-EU customers). Conditions:

  • You are responsible for return shipping costs.

  • The product must be returned in its original condition with all packaging, boxes, and protective materials intact. For knives, the original protective sleeve must be unopened.

  • A restocking fee of 15% of the product price will apply to cover handling, quality inspection, and repackaging costs.

  • Original outbound shipping costs are non-refundable.

  • Refunds will be issued to the original payment method after we receive and inspect the returned item.

8. How to Initiate a Return

To start a return, follow these steps:

  • Email service@kitchenustore.com with subject line “Return Request – Order #[Your Order Number]”.

  • Include your full name, the product(s) you wish to return, the reason for return, and photos if applicable (for defect/damage claims).

  • Wait for our return authorization email. Do not send any products back without authorization.

  • Once authorized, pack the product securely in its original packaging (or equivalent protective packaging). For fragile items, use ample bubble wrap and a sturdy box.

  • Include a copy of your order confirmation or a note with your order number.

  • Ship the package to the address provided in the authorization email. We recommend using a trackable shipping method with insurance. Beaufood is not responsible for lost return packages.

9. Return Shipping Address

The return shipping address will be provided in your return authorization email. Because beau tony Japanese food LLC is located in the United States but we primarily serve European customers, we may use a third-party returns processing center within Europe (e.g., in Germany or the Netherlands) to reduce your shipping costs. The specific address will be communicated at the time of authorization.

10. Refund Process

  • After we receive your returned item, we will inspect it within 5 business days.

  • If the return is approved, we will issue a refund to your original payment method (credit card, PayPal, etc.).

  • Refunds typically appear within 3 to 10 business days, depending on your bank or payment provider.

  • Partial refunds may be granted for items that are not in original condition, have missing parts, or show signs of use that go beyond normal inspection.

  • Shipping costs are refundable only if the return is due to our error (wrong or defective item).

11. Late or Missing Refunds

If you have not received a refund after 10 business days from our approval notice:

  • Check your bank account or PayPal transaction history again.

  • Contact your credit card company or PayPal; it may take additional time before a refund is officially posted.

  • If you have done all of the above and still have not received your refund, please contact us at service@kitchenustore.com.

12. Exchanges

We do not offer direct exchanges for change of mind. If you want a different product, please return the original eligible item for a refund (subject to restocking fee) and place a new order separately. For defective or incorrect items, we will send a replacement as described above.

13. Knife Return Special Provisions

Due to safety and hygiene regulations, knives are subject to stricter return rules:

  • Unopened, factory-sealed knife packages may be returned for change of mind within 14 days, subject to 15% restocking fee.

  • Knives with opened packaging cannot be returned for change of mind, but may be eligible for replacement if defective.

  • When returning a knife (authorized only), you must ship it in a secure, rigid container and comply with local laws regarding mailing knives. We recommend using a carrier that accepts knives (e.g., UPS, FedEx) and declaring the contents properly. Beaufood is not liable for any legal issues arising from improper return shipment of knives.

14. Ceramic and Porcelain Returns

Due to the fragile nature of ceramics, we strongly recommend keeping the original packaging for at least 30 days after purchase. If you need to return a ceramic item, you must use the original foam or bubble wrap inserts. Returns received with damage caused by insufficient packaging may be denied or subject to a reduced refund.

15. European Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws, including the EU Consumer Rights Directive. However, for kitchen knives and hygiene-sensitive utensils, the right of withdrawal is subject to the hygiene and safety exceptions. If you believe your rights have been violated, you may contact the European Consumer Centre (ECC) in your country.
